Hi Sam!

what seems like months ago during the ’summer’ we had our annual midsummer picnic. The weather was rubbish so we don’t go to the usual Regent’s Park but went to Russell Square instead where there was more shelter. We sat under the trees, put our umberellas and coats on and ate sausage rolls, strawberries and cake! We had a lovely time but were glad to get home for a cup of tea!

Lots of love,
Ian, Rachel, Clare, Shirley, Fran, Madeleine, Hugh, Deborah xxx

Hi Sam,

I’m in Boston in the USA outside Fenway Park. Fenway Park is where Boston’s baseball team, the Red Sox, play all their home games. All the fans in Boston go crazy and dress up in funny clothes to watch the games. Wally the Green Monster (the biggest Red Sox fan and mascot) goes to every game!

The sale has now been confirmed as Friday 23 November. We’re hoping to have lots of lovely things to sell. We’ve even had some early promises of cakes and other tasty things. Email us at stuff4sam@gmail.com if you want to contribute.
Last year, the sale made over £1000. It would be great to do the same again.

Yes, we know it is October but you have to plan these things early! We’re in the process of organising (what is a now traditional) stuff4sam Christmas craft fair and cake sale. Our office warmly supports the event with people making all sorts of wonderful things and then queuing up to spend their cash (we think it is the cakes that bring them in really).
We’re still finalising the date but if you have any special crafty skills and have a talent for making things that people would want to give as Christmas presents, please think of us. We’re looking for contributions for the sale.
You can email us at stuff4sam@gmail.com or leave us a comment here. The types of things we are looking for are:
- cards
- scarves
- toys / games
- knitted items
- jewellery / accessories
- anything else that you can think of!

We all went down to the Dukes Head, Putney Bridge to welcome Toby, Edward, James and Alister back from their epic five day row from Lechlade in the Cotsworlds to Putney London. Looking quite the pro’s in their Stuff4Sam T-shirts we heard a few of their tales from the trip. They met a lot of people along the way who gave them places to stay as well as donated to Stuff4Sam, well over £100 was collected along the way. It wasn’t all beer and skittles though as they batttled through rainy and windy weather conditions at the start of last week and were literally rowing against winds forcing them back upstream.

As well as hearing about the trip they the boys are hatching a new plan to row down the remaining part of the Thames some time in the spring, taking them through east London out to Essex. We’ll keep you posted…
Aside from an eventful trip Saturday was not without adventure itself. The spring tides were out in force and it wasn’t long after parking outside the pub that we noticed the river spill over onto the road and start flooding. One of our friends Chris just managed to move his just in time (he’s always wanted an amphibious vehical) after having had to wade though water to get to it. Others were not so lucky as their cars got flooded and bopped in the water as the pictures below show.

So a huge thank you to Toby, Edward, James and Alister for not just the fundraising but also spreading the word. We’ll be posting the final amount raised soon so don’t forget to come back to teh site and check.
