Its been a busy old week so its taken a while to gather our thoughts and write up about the party on Saturday night, but here it is!
A fabulous time was had by all. Over 60 people joined the celebrations making their way to Kings Cross on a cold dark December evening. A glass of cava welcomed them at the door!
The entertainment of the evening was provided by singer-song writer Dexter James (sample some of his music via his website). Dexter set the mood of the evening and was followed by comedian Dylan who shared stories about hecklers and unpleasant toddlers!
At one stage of the evening, the bar ran out of £5 notes as people fought to take part in the note draw. There was some reluctance to sign the queen’s paper but some treasonists in the room even went so far as signing their names on the queen’s forehead. The prizes included a brand-new walkman phone, dinner at the Harrison, cinema tickets, tickets to the V&A and posh chocolates. The draw raised £240!
The auction was the highlight of the evening raising £1285! There was lots of interest in the items. At one stage there was even someone bidding from the end of the phone for the website lot! The auction items were as follows:
- Golf Day at Bletchingly Golf Club (donated by Jan Tingey) – £120
- World Music CDs (donated by World Circuit Records) – £100
- Tickets to Lionel Ritchie (Audrey Kane at LiveNation) – £100
- Moroccan banquet (donated by Sophie Tarnoy) – £205
- Chinese banquet for 6 (donated by Henny Swan) – £230
- Bespoke website (donated by Christina McGuire) – £270
- Harley Davidson trip (donated by Neil Tingey) – £130 (x2).
The money is still being counted but the grand total so far is £2370!
We’d like to thank everyone who came to the party and made it such a success. We’d also like to thank the following people: everyone who donated prizes and auction lots; Debbie and Jane for putting together such great food; Dexter and Dylan for being so fab; Matt for hosting the auction so professionally; Hugh for compering the evening; MOD and Chris for doing the playlist; and the Harrison for putting on such a great do. Special thanks go to Yolanda and Debbie for organising the whole thing in such a short space of time! Well done guys!
Throughout the night, people posed for Hi Sam pictures and here are some of the results:
